Jesus is Coming Again

Jerry G. Nieten

The Bible is very clear and emphatic about the fact that Jesus Christ is coming again and probably very soon. There are many verses in the Old Testament that foretold about His first coming. There are many verses in the Old Testament that foretell about His second coming. There are many more verses in the New Testament that foretell about His second coming.

There are three aspects to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ:

1. The first event is the Firstfruits Harvest (Rapture).
2. The second event is the Main Harvest (Rapture). These first two events are collectively called the phased rapture or the separation.
3. The third and last event is His Glorious Appearing.

These events are part of the prophetic extrapolation of the seven feasts in Leviticus Chapter 23: The Seven Feasts.

Some Christians do not even believe that there is a rapture. They say that the word rapture is not even in the Bible. They are correct. However, the terms caught up (1Th 5:17) and translation (Heb 11:5) are in scripture. The implication and significance is the same.

The Firstfruits Harvest

The Firstfruits Harvest is a rapture of the bride of Christ. This event will occur before the great tribulation begins. The bride of Christ is made up of those believers in Christ who are (as judged by God, not by man): spiritual (sowing to and walking in the Spirit) vs. carnal (sowing to and walking in the flesh), mature (son) vs. immature (child), faithful vs. unfaithful, tested and found worthy to rule with Christ. They are pictured in scripture as follows:

1.      The faithful and wise servant (giving meat in due season) (Matt 24:45-47).

2.      The wise virgin (looking, waiting and ready for the bridegroom) (Matt 25:1-13)

3.      The one accounted worthy to escape the great tribulation (Lk 21:36)

4.      The glorious princess (Psa 45:13-15 NIV)

5.      The one who shall be taken (Matt 24:40-44)

6.      The one who is kept from the hour of temptation (tribulation) (Rev 3:10)

7.      Eve (the bride) comes out of the body of Adam (Jesus Christ, Gen 2:21-23)

8.      Enoch walked with God and did not die (Gen 5:24 and Heb 11:5)

9.      Elijah goes first (2Ki 2:1-18)

10.  Ruth (the bride, Ruth 2:1-23) at the foot of Boaz (kinsman redeemer Jesus Christ, Ruth 3:1-18) on the threshing floor in the dark of the night (the first 3½ years of the tribulation, Ruth 4:1-22).

The Main Harvest

The Main Harvest is a rapture of the body of Christ. This event will occur in the middle of the great tribulation and before the wrath of God comes upon the whole earth. The body of Christ is made up of those believers in Christ who are: carnal vs. spiritual, immature vs. mature, unfaithful vs. faithful, tested and found unworthy. God gives them another opportunity to be found faithful and worthy for rule and greater reward by the fiery trials of the great tribulation. They are pictured in scripture as follows:

1.      The evil servant that delayeth his lord's coming in his heart.  (Matt 24:48-51)

2.      The foolish virgin that is not ready for the bridegroom. (Matt 25:1-13)

3.    The Parable of the Talents is about those foolish virgins who are left behind for another opportunity to become wise, faithful, profitable and worthy to enter into the rule (with Christ) in the  kingdom of (over) heaven (not just be a subject in heaven) (Matt 25:14-30)

4.      The one who is not accounted worthy to escape the great tribulation (Lk 21:36)

5.      The virgin companions (Psa 45:13-15 NIV)

6.      The other {one} that is left (Matt 24:40-44)

7.      The one who is not kept from the hour of temptation (tribulation) (Rev 3:10)

8.      Adam is a type of the body of Christ (1Cor 15:22)

9.     Noah and his family were taken off the face of the earth before the wrath of God (flood: Gen 6:5-22 and 7:1-24)

10.  Lot, his two daughters and wife were taken out of Sodom (type of the world) before God's wrath upon Sodom with fire and brimstone (Gen 19:12-29)

11.  Elisha was not taken into heaven when Elijah was (2Ki 2:1-18 ð 23)

12.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego go through the burning fiery furnace (type of the great tribulation), but come out unscathed (Dan 3:8-30). The Son of God (Jesus) was with them in the fire (Dan 3:25)

Key Points:
  • The dead in Christ are resurrected (raised from the dead) (1Th 4:13-18).
  • Those who are still alive in Christ are translated (1Cor 15:51-52).
  • We (Christians) will not all "sleep" (die), but we will all be "changed" ("translated") (1Cor 15:51-53 and Heb 11:5).
  • The dead and those who are alive and remain are "caught up" ("raptured") together to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air at each time (Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest)  (1Th 4:15-18).
  • The Lord Jesus Christ does not come down to earth at either time. This is not His Glorious Appearing. He comes as a thief in the night at both of these times. When He comes at His Glorious Appearing, then every eye (the whole world) will behold him at that time (Rev 1:7).
His Glorious Appearing
  • This is the third and final aspect of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • This is when every eye shall behold Him (Rev 1:7). All the kindreds of the earth will wail and all of Israel will mourn at His Glorious Appearing (Rev 1:7) (Zec 12:10-12)
  • This is when He cometh in the clouds (Dan 7:13-14, Matt 24:27-31, Matt 26:64, Mk 13:24-27, Mk 14:61-62, Acts 1:9-11, Rev 1:7 and Rev 14:14-16)
  • This is when He comes on a white horse to judge in righteousness and make war (Rev 19:11)   {The number eleven in scripture is the number of judgment}
  • The armies of heaven (the angels and the Church) follow Him (Rev 19:14, Jude 14-15 and Col 3:4)
  • This is when He will smite the nations and tread out the winepress of the fierceness and the wrath of Almighty God (Rev 19:15) (Rev 14:19-20)
  • This is when He will come as KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS (rather than "a thief in the night")(Rev 19:17)
  • This is the battle of Armageddon (Rev 16:16, Rev 19:19, Joel 3:9-15, Zec 12:8-14 and 14:1-9)
  • This is when he comes in glory with all the holy angels to establish His Millennial Kingdom (Matt 25:31-34) (Zec 14:9) (1Pet 5:4) (2Ti 4:1) (Titus 2:13)
  • This is that great and terrible day of the Lord (Joel 2:31)
The Proof and Promise of Scripture Regarding the Second Coming Of The Lord Jesus Christ

New Testament

Matt 10:23 {His Glorious Appearing}

23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man {the Lord Jesus Christ} be come. KJV

Matt 16:27-28 {His Glorious Appearing}

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. KJV

Matt 23:38-39 {His Glorious Appearing to Israel}

38 Behold, your house {Israel} is left unto you desolate.

39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. KJV

Matt 24:3-51 {The End & His Glorious Coming & Firstfruits Harvest a "separation"}

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase 4430 {"ptoma": dead body, corpse} is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree {Israel}; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves {Israel became a nation May 14, 1948} , ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it {Jesus Christ} is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field {world}; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house {Church} had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. KJV

Matt 25:1-46 {Firstfruits Harvest ("separation"), "left behind" body of Christ (Parable of the Talents) and His Glorious Appearing ("sheep & goat judgment"}

1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom {Jesus Christ}.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone {going} out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting 166 {age} fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting 166 {age} punishment: but the righteous into life eternal 166 {age}. KJV

Mark 8:38 {His Glorious Appearing}

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. KJV

Mark 13:24-27 {His Glorious Appearing}

24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. KJV

Mark 13:33-37 {Firstfruits Harvest}

33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house {Church} , and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. KJV

Mark 14:61-62 {His Glorious Appearing}

61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. KJV

Luke 12:35-48 {Firstfruits Harvest a "separation"}

35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. KJV

Luke 17:20-37 {His Glorious Appearing & Firstfruits a "separation"}

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom {type of the world} it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

32 Remember Lot's wife.

33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.{not in original Greek}

37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body4983 {"soma" ð live body vs. "ptoma" ð dead body, corpse as in carcass4430 in Matt 24:28} is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. KJV

Luke 18:7-8 {His Glorious Appearing}

7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? KJV

Luke 19:11-27 {Main Harvest: "left behind" body of Christ}

11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman {Jesus Christ} went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

14 But his citizens {Israel} hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

25(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. KJV

Luke 21:7-38 {The End, His Glorious Appearing, Firstfruits and "separation"}

7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people {Israel}.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree {Israel}, and all the trees {other nations};

30 When they now shoot forth {Israel became a nation May 14, 1948}, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

32 Verily I say unto you, This generation {those born since May 14, 1948} shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. KJV

John 14:1-6 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV

John 14:28 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. KJV

Acts 1:9-11 {His Glorious Appearing}

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. KJV

1 Cor 1:7 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

1 Thess 2:19 {His Glorious Appearing}

19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? KJV

1 Thess 3:13 {His Glorious Appearing}

13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. KJV

1 Thess 4:13-18 {Firstfruits Harvest ð Main Harvest}

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. KJV

1 Thess 5:1-11 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. KJV

1 Thess 5:23-24 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. KJV

2 Thess 1:7-10 {His Glorious Appearing}

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting166 {age} destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. KJV

2 Thess 2:1-12 {Firstfruits Harvest ð Main Harvest ð His Glorious Appearing}

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin {antichrist (AC): "the beast"} be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he {AC} as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he {AC} is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth {Holy Spirit} that he {AC} might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he {Holy Spirit} who now letteth will let, until he {Holy Spirit} be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked {one: AC} be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him {AC}, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Thess 3:5 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

1 Tim 6:14-15 {Firstfruits Harvest, Main Harvest and His Glorious Appearing}

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. KJV

Titus 2:13 {His Glorious Appearing}

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; KJV

Heb 10:37 {His Glorious Appearing}

37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. KJV

James 5:7-8 {Firstfruits Harvest and Main Harvest}

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early {Firstfruits Harvest} and latter {rain} {Main Harvest}.

8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. KJV

1 Peter 1:7 {His Glorious Appearing}

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. KJV

1 Peter 5:4 {His Glorious Appearing}

4 And when the chief Shepherd {Jesus Christ} shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. KJV

2 Peter 3:3-13 {Firstfruits Harvest, Main Harvest, His Glorious Appearing, Sheep & Goat Judgment, Millennial Kingdom, Great White Throne Judgment, New Heaven & New Earth}

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. KJV

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 And I saw the beast {AC}, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. KJV

Mic 7:1-4 {His Glorious Appearing}

1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit {Firstfruits Harvest}.

2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men {Main Harvest}: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. KJV

Closing Remarks

Several verses imply that the Lord Jesus Christ will appear at all three aspects of His second coming. In fact, that is the case. He will appear to the bride of Christ at the Firstfruits Harvest and He will appear to the body of Christ at the Main Harvest. He will come as a thief in the night at both of these times: to the bride first (pre-tribulation) and then the body second (mid-tribulation). The world does not see Him at either of these times. He comes as a thief in the night to the world at both of these times. He will not appear to the entire world until the end of the great tribulation at His Glorious Appearing. The key word is Glorious. When He appears to the world, He will appear in His Glory as "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS" (Rev 19:16) and every eye will behold Him at that time (Rev 1:7).
